Pinknic

Pinknic

Slayerrrs! I have to tell you guys about what I did this past weekend. I finally made it to the Pinknic Festival! I’ve been trying to go to this event for a couple of years now and this time I wasn’t going to let it pass me by. I asked my friend @Tej_Monique to go with me and we bought our tiks. We decided to go with the regular admission for Saturday so we could turn up and not worry about taking off of work the next day lol. The event was held at Governors Island as it always is and this would actually be my first time visiting which would be a fun experience.

Omg Saturday was 90 degrees but we got up early and caught the 11:30 AM ferry from Brooklyn. I am so happy we caught that ride since after 11:30 the ferry ride costs $3, which isn’t much but that’s an extra $3 in my pocket lol. We decided to take the ferry from Brooklyn rather than Manhattan since it was closer and would save travel time. When I tell you that ride was literally five minutes but it was such a peaceful ride and the breeze felt amazing on that hot day. When we arrived there wasn’t that big of a crowd yet which Thank God so we started our walk to the festival site. It was about a 10 minute walk but for people who didn’t mind paying the $10 they had these bike carriages to give you a ride to the site. After having our tickets and bags checked we entered and received our gift bags. Immediately to the left we saw a Ferris wheel to our left, an open field with a stage, a bar tent to the right, food stands to the left as well as the VIP section which included their own bar and pool.

We decided to head to the bar first where we decided to get a glass of frose made with rose from threeolives. It tasted amazing, it was sweet and had some pieces of strawberries inside. We then headed to the food stands to take a look and decide on what we wanted to eat. I was looking forward to a lobster roll from the Lobster Joint but that thing was $24...no way ma’am not my pocket, so I just decided on a pizza from Fortina while my friend got herself a taco. We picked a spot under a tree for shade and put down our Pinknic blankets that came in our gift bag and had our lunch. We sat down for a bit before heading out in the crowd to see what was being offered and take some pics.

We got another glass of frose and walked around the perimeter of the event where we passed by the VIP section, the stage, some vendors and back to the bar. When I tell you the sun was baking we decided to park ourselves under the bar tent for some shade and to be able to get some more drinks whenever we wanted. After a while security made everyone who made themselves at home under the bar tent get up we observed the event some more before we decided to head back home on the ferry.

I def had a great time at Pinknic, and I would sooo do it again, but next time VIP where they had actual seating and umbrellas providing shade as well as their own bar. It was a fun day being outside drinking, eating and just living life. Did any of you guys go to Pinknic or have you ever attended? If so how was your experience and would you ever go again? Take a look below to view some pics from the event!
