Pleaseeee take me back lol! Heyyy y’all! So I took a trip to Me-hi-co with a group for a friend’s bday trip last September. It was a little nerve wrecking to travel since that is typically hurricane season and there were a couple of earthquakes, but everything went off without a hitch. We traveled to the lovely area of Cancun straight from JFK.

As soon as we got off of the plane it was hello, great weather! We took a shuttle to the lovely Hotel Riu Palace Las Americas adults only resort. The hotel ended up being on the strip which was great and convenient for us but first thing was first, hitting the bar lol.

After getting our drinks we checked into our rooms and headed back down in our bathing suits to the pool with our floaties. Since it was the first day we wanted to have some chill time by the pool and plan some events for the rest of the week.

The next day we met downstairs to plan some excursions out for our trip, we ended up choosing this adventure park that had a cave walkthrough, zip lining, and atvs. Since it was too late for us to leave that day and participate in the excursions, we decided to have a beach day. So we ran upstairs changed into our swimsuits and headed down to the beach. It was a beautiful day, extremely hot, but beautiful. Then next thing I knew my phone was going off because there was an earthquake that just happened in Central Mexico. Honestly we didn’t feel a thing which I am grateful for since we were on the other side of Mexico, but it was devastating news to receive.

We did end up going to the club that night which was easy to get to since we were on the strip so we ended up walking. We chose one of the bars that looked lit. The way the bars are set up it’s like everything is open and facing the strip so you can see everything, after entering we found some tables by the wall that had a little shelf along the wall that allowed you to sit, or stand and dance on it. There were unlimited drinks and great music, it was def a great night. We couldn’t stay out too late since we had an early start to the excursions the next day but we made sure we had fun.

The next day we set out to the activity park. The group participated in the caves and zip lining, I stayed back since I’m not too good with water (I can’t swim lol) and didn’t want to zip line. I did participate in the atvs, everybody partnered up to ride, and because of my mishap with the atv in Jamaica last year I was not driving. We drove to a waterfall where everyone could jump off, similar to the activity in Jamaica but this waterfall had a gliding contraption that could be used as well. It was fun watching people jump and do tricks into the water until it was time to head back. When we made it back to the main section of the activity park they were offering pictures for sale of the activities we participated in and we got back on the bus back to the resort.

Once back I took a quick power nap because we had reservations for dinner since it was my friend’s actual birthday. She wanted everyone to color coordinate so we all wore navy while she wore yellow. After taking some pics because, we are who we are lol we got into a taxi to head to the restaurant, Puerto Madero. It was a really nice restaurant and once settled and ordered they gave us some bread to eat before our food started to arrive. The food was amazing and the one thing I did want to point out was that I ordered a Caesar salad and they came out to the table and prepared it from scratch in front of us which is something I’ve never seen before but it was amazing to see, since I’ve read that in Mexico it’s something to expect when ordering at a restaurant. After dinner we headed back to the resort and chilled a bit by the bar, we had another excursion the next day.

Our last full day of fun, we were on our way to a booze cruise. First stop was snorkeling, y’all know water isn’t my thing so i stayed on. But while people were participating we were served some drinks, and once the activity was over we were given a Bantu box of food with guac and chips, chicken salad, pasta salad, and shrimp. It was soooo good! Not too long after we arrived at the Isle de Mujeres (the island of women) it was of course a huge tourist location, but it allowed us to shop, ride in golf carts to explore the island something different. After being on the island for a few, we got back on boat, and headed to a place where everyone could dive off the boat and swim. After getting back to the dock and taking the bus back to the resort we just had a chill evening by the bar and stayed up as late as we could just having some great convo before heading to bed.

The next day it was time to say goodbye :(. It’s always hard to leave paradise, but the trip was a success and I can’t wait for the next planned vaca (um um my bdayyyy). I’ll give some more info on that later but until then take a look at some pics and video of my trip below. Later!
