Show em how to move in a room full of Vultures - Vulture Fest!

Show em how to move in a room full of Vultures - Vulture Fest!

It’s been a little minute guys but I’m back! I recently came back from vacay and I def have a blog about that coming but I did attend Vulture Festival the Sunday after returning home. My coworker has spoken to me about Vulture Fest for the longest since she goes every year, so when the announcement came out about the events I was excited to look and wouldn’t you know that Queen Sugar was going to have a panel at the event. I signed up so quickly to save my seat and couldn’t wait to attend. The panel would include Ava DuVernay, Rutina Wesley, Dawn-Lyen Gardner and Kofi Siriboe. (I don’t mind going to events by myself I find that it also helps with meeting new people who might be loners at events like myself lol)

Sunday came around and I had until 6:45 pm until my panel so I made my way to the Jetta Haus event #BettaGettaJetta in Greenpoint. It was a cool little room with vintage game machines, a band playing, popcorn, a bar and some other activities. It give me something quick and fun to experience but I was more excited about how my day was gonna end at the panel.

I headed to Milk Gallery the Vulture Fest hub and stood in line since I got there early. People, I got there at 5:45 there were already people lined up. I ended up being fifth in line but I was ready to head upstairs. After receiving a wrist band and being moved to another line we were finally allowed upstairs at 6:20 pm. When we got off the elevator and to the room, baby it was a madhouse. People started running for seats and so I ran too lol. I just needed to be as close as possible. Vulture does reserve the first two rows for sponsors and so I was only able to sit in the third row which was the first row for general admission.

When the cast finally came out after being introduced the questions started but he moderator did keep it very lively and fun. In case you weren’t able to attend in person there was a live-stream online. We got to see the trailer in the beginning and then watched the scene *spoiler if you haven’t seen season 2* where Ralph Angel finds out his son Blue might not be his. When I tell you Kofi started crying while watching that scene *sigh* he is so in touch with his emotions, what a man lol.

Some of the questions asked of the cast were about where their characters were at the ending of last season and the beginning of the new season, how things that have been done by cast members on the show affect the family, and how it feels having a team with all female directors (can we give a handclap for that in Hollywood?!).

After the panel we were given access to the Vulture Lounge where they had snacks, drinks, a photo area, old school game section, a cute little decorate a record booth and a mirror wall. I got a beer with the two drink tickets that came with my entry and got a record decorated which came out so cool, then I took some pics by the mirror wall before ending my night.

This was a great event and I am happy I got to experience my first Vulture Festival, i can’t wait to see who is featured for next year’s event! Have you guys ever been to Vulture Fest or want to attend next year? If so let me know what your experience was like or ask me any other questions you may have. Don't forget Queen Sugar has a two night premiere on May 29th and 30th on the OWN Network.
