Coca Cola Recipe for Magic

Coca Cola Recipe for Magic

Come with me to the Coca Cola Recipe for Magic event that I attended last week in LIC. It was an evening where people came together to share a meal from different local eateries. Hosted in conjunction with Sohla El-Waylly who curated a dinner with amazing restaurants.

On the way in I got a red stamp on my hand which I later found out was for a specific reason, I’ll get to that later. After heading in I was handed my first Coca Cola of the night, Coke Zero. I’m a HUGE Coca Cola fan, but sugar free isn’t my fave. After heading to the Photo Booth for a bit of boomerang action, I found a seat as we waited for the food to be ready.

The Arepa Lady’s line was the only one open at the moment and served as the appetizer of the night. Eventually we were asked to gather in one area as what we thought was a billboard moved over us via crane and was transformed into our dinner table. This process took about 30 minutes and in that time the line at KuKu Chicken opened up.

Once the transformation was over, we were told that those who had stamps were able to sit and dine while those who didn’t were able to get in line for the food they were interested in. I sat down as they laid out table settings for everyone.

Our first course was from Hibino LIC serving Obanzai: Horenso Ae, Ume Sushi Roll, Kanpyo Roll with soy sauce. I am not a sushi person, my sister takes the cake there, but I gave it a try anyway. Not too bad!

2nd course was from Kuku Chicken serving Tteokbokki, Sweet and Spicy Glaze Wing and Pickled Radish. The wings were good!! The radish was good too, but sweet so I couldn’t finish the bowl.

3rd course was from Cardamom serving Dahi Puri, Gobi Manchurian and Lamb Croquette. I’ve never had Indian cuisine before, but not to bad. I was already getting full, and looking forward to our last course.

Lastly, we had a meal from Jamrock Jerk. They served Jerk Chicken, Rice & Peas with Oxtail Gravy and Plantains.

I ended up leaving a bit after 9 PM. This was a great event and one of the best that I have been to in while. Thank you Coca Cola!!
