Dominicana Drippin’ in Designer
Que lo Que, WaWaWa! Heyyy Slayerssss!! If you can’t guess where I just came back from visiting then…I’ll just tell you, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for a bachelorette trip. Now I know some of you guys have been reading and listening to news about DR but the whole time I was there I felt no danger or weirdness. We did purchase about 4 bottles for ourselves at the airport but we still felt comfortable enough to drink at the resort.
We stayed at the Riu Republica, the resort was huge with a ton of restaurants and even its own water slide area. Since myself and one other friend were the only two to fly out of NY, we arrived at around 2 PM on Thursday and decided to eat lunch at the buffet and head to the pool. At the pool we started off easy with some strawberry daiquiris until the group, including the bride, arrived from Virginia. The group arriving from VA had a flight delay so we went to dinner at the buffet and they arrived shortly after to eat and then we changed to go to the disco on the property and turned up for the night!
The next day we went to breakfast at the buffet (my fave meal of the day), I piled my plate up of course and we enjoyed a show from all of the employees before we went to meet our representative and book our excursion. We already knew what excursion we wanted to do, which was the all day outing including ATVs and the Booze Cruise. We were expecting to pay $150 but ended paying only $89 which was awesome! After booking the activity for Saturday, we headed back to the room to change into our swimsuits and went back to the pool bar.
The bride gifted everyone with bridesmaid survival kits which included a tank top, bandana, an oh shit kit, a clear purse with our names that held Clorox wipes, makeup wipes, a travel sized deodorant and hand sanitizer, a personalized cup and a waterproof phone case. The phone case came in handy for the pool bar and the beach which we hit up after the jerk chicken shack. Now it wasn’t actually jerk chicken but the chicken was really good! We took ours to the beach to eat before heading to another pool by the water slides. I don’t really do water, but I recorded my friends coming down the slide and they seemed to love it.
Today was also the day of the Riu Pink Pool Party which was at a neighboring Riu resort so everyone was placed on a bus which took us to the sister resort. The drive there was lit and once we arrived the party was already on point. We put our stuff down together and got into the pool for the foam party. The resort employees turned up and hours later (even though it didn’t feel like it) it was time to go.
We got back on the buses back to the Riu Republica where we went back to the room and got ready for dinner in our metallic looks. This same night we were conducting the bachelorette scavenger hunt which we surprised the bride with at dinner. Some of us stayed and participated with the bride, while the rest of the girls went to decorate the room for the pajama party. When the room was ready we headed upstairs and disguised us escorting her as us wanting to make sure she made it to the room safely. As soon as she walked into the room she was so shocked with excitement. We all changed into our matching black pajamas and turned up!
Saturday, was excursion day! We took mug shot pics then hit breakfast before heading to the lobby to meet the driver at 8 AM. Once we boarded the bus, we were taken to the main site of the company. After signing paperwork and taking some group pics of course, we partnered up and got in the ATV While riding in the ATV we stopped at a beach, Rancho Punta Cana where we able to touch and smell items, and an underwater cave 25 ft deep. After visiting these stops we made our way back to the main site where we had lunch before we changed and shuttled over to the catamaran location for the booze cruise.
When we arrived we were the first group to check in and had to wait a bit for others to arrive. Once the rest of the people booked for the cruise arrived we boarded the transport boat which took us to the catamaran waiting for us in the middle of the ocean. On the boat we were first taken to an area for scuba diving. Some of my friends got in via a slide on the boat before time was up and they had to get back on. We were then served drinks and fruit while the boat took us to the natural pool in the ocean where the water only reaches to about your naval.
At the natural pool all the boats parked up and everybody got into the water. Our boat had a floating bar, music was playing and everybody was vibing. Eventually and unfortunately we were called to board the boat to be taken back to shore. We boarded the bus and everybody was driven back to their respective hotels. We were the last stop but before heading back to our rooms we went to the lit pool at the resort to get a drink and sit around for a bit.
We went to our rooms to get ready for dinner for our last night. We wore orange while the bride wore pink. At dinner we each went around and gave her something that was reflective of our relationship. I won’t go through and say what each person gave, as that is personal but I will say that she was really happy. After dinner we walked around for a bit before finally calling it a night as everybody had to pack for our flights the next day.
Our last morning we headed to breakfast together for one last time before hitting the pool for a drink and to dip our feet in. On our way up to the room we convinced our friend, who missed the water slide the first day to hit it one time before we left.! We went up to our rooms before walking the VA crew down to the lobby as our flight wasn’t until later. After seeing them off, my friend and I went back to the room before having to check out at 12 PM. To waste time we sat by the pool for about an hour and a half then headed to the buffet for lunch, then sat in the lobby until our airport transfer arrived.
This trip was a memory that I will never forget. Although others were nervous about my travels to DR, I never felt worried and trust me when I say that I am always anxious but I knew I would be okay. The resort was so lit, the people were lit and the activities were lit. I def want to go back again and to that exact resort. If you guys have been to DR or are thinking about going and have questions, leave those below and I will get back to you. However until then, get into these pics and don’t forget to comment, like, subscribe and share!
