NOLA Babyyy!
Hey Slayersss!
If you follow me on Instagram, which you def should (@Ready.slay.vacay), then you know that I just came back from Nola for my best friend’s bachelorette weekend. All I can say is that Nola is amazing! I flew in on Thursday and left Sunday morning so it was a quick weekend trip but it felt like just the right amount of time.
We arrived hours before the bride so after arriving we split an Uber to the hotel to put our bags down and then walked over to We Dat Chicken and Shrimp at my recommendation. Besides hearing from some friends about it I also heard of the spot on Instagram and the food looked so good, I knew we had to try. We each ordered the lunch special which included 6 wings with your choice of sauce, french fries, and a soft drink for $8.99. The french fries could have toppings added for $1 a piece but I chose Parmesan wings, plain fries and added fried shrimp to my meal. Also since Nola has an open container law, it wasn’t irregular to see that this restaurant sold cocktails so I got a Long Island iced tea for $9. We sat down and waited for the food and decided to eat there. The food was sooo good, I ate my whole meal there and almost anytime I go out I can never finish the whole thing but I sure did that day lol. The Long Island was not the best but we don’t waste liquor over here so I drank it all lol.
After eating we took a walk down Canal Street to try and find a liquor store with some good prices. We tried one, but the prices for some of the bottles were even more expensive than NY and that’s not normal lol, but we finally found another spot that had better prices so we went with that. After buying the bottles we headed back to the hotel where some more ladies had arrived and relaxed for a bit until it was time for the bride to get there. By the time she arrived, the room was decorated and it was time to turn up. The first night was just an inside night of games, music and turning up since it was a traveling day. We made drinks, danced and laughed then eventually headed to bed to get ready for the next day.
Friday morning we had breakfast at the hotel before heading out for a swamp tour. We decided to wear matching Bach T-shirt’s and hopped in a cab to the swamp. The tour was about 1 1/2 hours long but our guide Danny was hilarious and the tour was very informative. We saw a good amount of gators but we didn’t get to hold a baby gator, so I was a bit disappointed by that but fun nonetheless. After we were finished we found another liquor store before heading home to change into our swimsuits to head to the pool.
Our hotel didn’t have a pool but since we stayed in a Marriott branded hotel we were able to visit another Marriott’s pool. We didn’t stay long but we did get in the water for a bit before leaving. Since this hotel was closer to Bourbon Street, we decided to just take the walk and get a taste of Bourbon which included getting a hand grenade before getting something to eat at Deanie’s Seafood Restaurant and heading back to the hotel.
At Deanie’s we decided to just take our food back to the hotel since the wait was long. I ended up ordering the seafood pizza and after everyone got their food we went up to our hotel rooftop and ate our food. Of course everyone was tired after the afternoon so after eating we headed to our rooms to refresh before going out later that night. We had a bit of rest then got dressed in our blue before heading back down to Bourbon for some fun. We hit a couple of those little bars that had good music playing while turning up. We got back to our room pretty late that morning and slept a bit. We were able to sleep in a bit since we didn’t have an early start on Saturday.
Saturday afternoon we started getting ready for brunch. We tried to get in at Neyows but the wait time was too long so we headed to Morrows. Guys let me tell you the vibes, food, drinks were everything at Morrows. For appetizers we had oysters plain and chargrilled which, guys I can’t even explain how good but you NEED to try. I also had Filé Gumbo soooo good! For my entree I had the Oceans Delight which had pasta, salmon, shrimp, oysters and garlic bread for $35. I figured that out of all items on the menu the Ocean’s Delight was most worth it and boy was I right. I def recommend a visit to Morrow’s.
As we were leaving it started pouring rain so we hopped in a cab and headed back to the hotel to put our leftovers away. The weather app said that the rain would be going for a couple of hours so we played a couple of games in the bride’s room before the skies cleared up and we headed back to Bourbon Street. Bourbon was lit! We went to Pat O’Briens for some Hurricanes which wasn’t my favorite drink, it tasted like cherry medicine, but after drinking it for a bit it got better. We then found a balcony and turned up and threw some beads. We also had time to taste some alligator from Felix’s. I ordered fried and grilled and both were so good. After, we took the walk over to Cafe du Monde for beignets as a nightcap before heading back to the hotel. I had the time of my life on Saturday! A couple of us left early on Sunday morning to head back to the airport. I will say, this was one time I didn’t enjoy my JetBlue ride because the planes looked old and due for an upgrade so hopefully they put more time into fixing those older planes.
Overall the trip was so much fun and we made sure that the Bride to Be had the time of her life. This is def a great location for a bachelorette/bachelor trip and is becoming a hotspot for that exact reason. We stopped so many times to have our friend take pics with diff brides. Also, I didn’t get to hit all of the tourist spots that I had on my list but I didn’t mind because this trip wasn’t about me but I will be back again so I can make it to all of my places on my wish list. If you guys have ever taken a trip to Nola or want to, leave some of fave places below or feel free to ask me any questions about my trip.
