Virgin Voyages Cruise Day 4
Our itinerary changed again, we were supposed to go to Cozumel/Playa Del Carmen, but since this was not our original day to be in port they had no spots left for us to dock. The plan the crew came up with was to park the ship as close as we could get and then have people tendered back and forth to the port. However, the waters were so rough there was no way the crew could tender us back and forth. Plans quickly changed again and since we weren’t going to Bimini, Bahamas because of the tropical storm we headed towards Key West. Our port day officially became a “Day at Sea”.
Tess and I had breakfast in the galley before heading back to the room to change. Since plans changed so late the Virgin Voyages team moved some activities around, but things booked up very quickly. With no set plans we decided to head to the pool area again for the day. We found some seats by the bar and started drinking away. There was a good amount of people at the pool today which was expected since nobody left the ship. The pool area had good music playing and great vibes. We did pass through a light rainstorm which sent us scrambling for some cover, but it was over fairly quickly.
We eventually decided on having lunch in the galley. I had a panini which came with a side of chips. We ate quickly since we had a spa appointment booked. You can pay for spa day pass for $39 on port days and $59 during at sea days. I tacked on a much needed massage as a treat to myself. The massage was heavenly and I felt less tense in my shoulders which is a problem area for me.
After returning to the cabin, I relaxed a bit while Tess went to get a tattoo before dinner. That’s right a tattoo on a cruise. I believe Virgin Voyages is the first cruise line to offer tattoos on board. She was literally back in an hour with some fresh ink. Once she got back we got all ready for dinner at Pink Agave.
Pink Agave is the Mexican restaurant on board and must’ve been a hotspot because there was a line to just check in. Once we were seated we perused the menu and I saw what I was looking for. I was excited to be adventurous and try this drink called, “It’s Like Crickets in Here” just to say I did it.
When the waitress brought the drink to me I was in shock. Whyyyy were the crickets so damn big!! She teased me a bit, but I had to try it now. I grabbed a straw and slowly dipped. The drink itself was a mezcal based drink which wasn’t bad, but as I was drinking I looked down and noticed pieces of the cricket slowly coming up the straw. I decided then and there that I was done and ordered a Coca Cola lol. At least I can say that I tried it!! For dinner I had esquites, pescado it wasn’t extremely memorable, but okay.
After Pink Agave we headed around the ship to one of the night parties at the Manor nightclub before calling it an evening.
Day 5 coming up!
