Virgin Voyages Cruise Day 3

Virgin Voyages Cruise Day 3

Heyyy y’all, welcome to Day 3 on my cruise. Today we docked in Costa Maya, Mexico. Now please be aware our whole itinerary got reorganized because of a tropical storm in the area heading towards Miami. We were supposed to head to Cozumel/Playa Del Carmen and Bimini, Bahamas. Instead we were to go to Costa Maya as the first stop and then Cozumel/Playa Del Carmen before returning back to Miami. Since this was a new port added to the trip, Tess and I looked into some excursions and decided to go to a Salsa making/salsa lesson class.

I’m used to doing excursions like ATVs, Boat rides etc, on vacation, so this was a different activity for us. The instructor taught us how to make three different salsas (including guacamole) and we had a tequila tasting as well. When I tell you this was some of the smoothest tasting tequila I have ever had. They leader of the tasting let us know that the tequila we drink at home that burns when going down is not quality tequila. Tequila that is great quality does NOT burn when drinking. After our tasting they gave our group a quick salsa dance lesson. Afterwards we headed to the beach for a bit before taking the bus back to the port. We visited some of the shops near the port before boarding the ship again. One thing to note and that they will announce to you before getting off the ship once docked is that if you purchase any alcohol while off the ship, you will have to check the bottle(s) in before you head up to your room. They will return/deliver the bottle to your room the night before we dock at the home port.

Once back on the ship we went to the snack area that resembled an old school diner and had some hot dogs, wings and dessert. The hot dog was not all of that, but the wings were hitting. We stopped by for some ice cream and enjoyed it on the deck before we went up to the room to nap. While in the room we wanted to stock the fridge up with some drinks, so we ordered Ship Eats (the cruise’s version of Uber Eats). They do provide daily water in your cabin, but other drinks need to be ordered. Ship Eats does cost $5 per delivery so make sure you stock up when ordering. Because of the itinerary change, today ended up being Scarlet Night instead of Day 4. They ask that everyone wears something red for scarlet night, so Tess and I got dressed in our red before heading to dinner at Gunbae.

When I tell you I had the time of my life at Gunbae (the Korean BBQ restaurant on board). I do have to warn you that this restaurant has communal seating of 6 people, so if you are a smaller group you will be seated with strangers. It can feel weird at first, but the group we were seated with was so welcoming to Tess and I and we had a ball. Each table gets an attendee who will give you the run down about dinner, will cook your food on the grill and will play drinking games with you. The drinking games were such a good time and really loosened everybody up some more. The attendee does play as well and she was so good I know there is no way that she ever loses lol.

After dinner we headed outside to the pool area because that is where the Scarlet Night fun takes place. They started off with a performance from the Happenings Cast before allowing everybody to jump in the pool to dance and let loose. When the night finally turned down Tess and I headed to the nightclub again for a bit before turning in for the night.

See you for Day 4!!
