Hi.

It Was All a Dream!

It Was All a Dream!

Slayerrrssss! I made it to the Dream Machine Pop up in Williamsburg last weekend and it was a cute experience but a little different from other pop ups that I have been to this year. The tickets were $38 which seems to be the going number for all the experiences this summer. This pop up was made to have each room set up like a different dream scenario which I thought was a cool ass concept very different too so I was very excited to go.

When walking up my friend and I had tickets for 12 PM but when we pulled up there was a cluster of people outside with some people who had tickets for 11:30 AM and hadn’t gone inside yet. I didn’t mind because we barely made it on time so who was I to complain. After a few minutes we were led inside after having our tickets checked and told to stand in a line while waiting for our tour guide. Now this my friends was the first difference I noticed, we had a tour guide? Well okay, I didn’t think too much into it at least I had my friend to talk to while we stood in line.

Our tour guide showed up and just went over the rules (no backtracking through rooms), how the visit was going to go and pointed out that there would be two chances to use the restroom...uhhh thanks? Anyway the first room was a dimly lit room with giant “clouds” floating at diff levels, very cool for a creative photo. My friend had the awesome idea to sit down and have the cloud portray a thought cloud like used in the comics, I thought it was the cutest idea ever and of course after one person did it everybody else followed along lol. Then we heard someone say we had about 30 more secs in the room...wow these people really rush here.

The next room was a room full of bubbles floating everywhere. We were told to be very careful as the ground was slippery and wet from the amount of bubbles coming out and trust me nobody wanted to fall in front of a crowd of people. I got a very cool bubble pic in this room it was very cute but not much for inspiration in this room, so on to the next.

We ended up in a white and black hallway, perfect for pics in a matching chair. Of course at this point a line formed and on to the next full room we went.

We ended up in a laundry room. The prettiest laundry room you’ve ever seen where everyone has taken their best insta pics from the pop up. As soon as we walked in we were given cotton candy and then as we were discussing how we wanted to take our pics a door opened and scared the hell out of us lol. We were told it was a secret room so my friend and I went in and it was a dark mirror room with lights and at first I thought it was pretty small but the tour guide inside told us we could keep walking forward and it turned out to be a much bigger space than expected but the mirrors created an illusion of a small space. There was def no way to get any pics in here since it was so dark so we exited the room and got back to our laundry room planning. I decided to hop into one of the carts with my cotton candy and my friend created a nice boomerang before we moved on to the next room.

The next room was a ball pit with blue balls (hahaha) made to look like a pool. After getting a boomerang falling into the pool, which wasn’t that deep mind you, it was sooo hard to get out. But then we were reminded that we had 30 secs left so we got out and made our way to the next space, a colorful hallway!

Perfect hallway to get a boomerang and catch all the colors as well as some nice pics. After coming out of the hallway we made it to the flower room. This room had plants everywhere and a stool in the perfect corner for an awesome photo opp. After trading off pics with my friend we moved on to what were thought was the next room but turned out to be a bunch of silver streamers that seemed to go on forever before we made it to the doorway out which had a sign over it with a lyric that was perfect for the end of this pop up...”It was all a Dream” courtesy of the one and only BIGGIE!

After exiting that doorway there were chalk lined walls for people to tag and a doorway outside. Overall the experience lasted about 45 mins which was kind of short compared to other pop ups. I know I complained a lot about the time constraints in each room, but I can understand the reason for it, they wanted to keep the crowds down which is completely understandable but for $38 a ticket either give us more rooms or more time in each room.

The Dream Machine was supposed to close on July 30th but has been extended a few more weeks, until September 9th. If after reading this you still want to attend, give it a go! If you have already visited let me know how the experience was for you and take a look at some pics below!!
