On the Run II

On the Run II

Hey Slayers! It’s been a minute so I have to catch you guys up on some of the things I’ve been doing. This thing in particular has been the highlight of my summer and that was the On the Run II concert! Now we all know I’m from Brooklyn and so I live for some Jay, but for me Bey was the reason for me going so hard for these tiks.

Months ago when the tiks went on sale I hopped up on Ticketmaster and my group of friends (The Beymuskateers) decided to attend the concert in DC and it worked out because tiks ended up being a little bit cheaper than the NY show and we ended up with better seats. After handing over our money (always keep some money to the side for Bey, she drops whenever she wants lol) we were booked and ready for the concert.

Now after going to college in Virginia, DC is like a second home and we have been there multiple times not to mention we have many friends out there. We hit my brother up, and he booked us a room in the hotel where he works, so all we had left to do was pick out our fits.

The weekend finally came and we checked in to our hotel, The Watergate (fancyyyy lol) on Friday afternoon but had to get ready right away since our show was starting at 7pm. After getting dolled up we called an Uber and headed to FedExField for the concert. When we arrived it was mayhem, but we made our way over to the entrance and on our way we noticed a long line of people waiting by some lockers, but we paid this no mind and walked right on up to the metal detectors. I handed my clutch over to the worker and walked through the detector and then she let me know that my “clutch” was too big and I would have to check in into a locker. I was in disbelief, I never thought that a clutch would be too big! Then she informed us that the bags we take in could be no larger than an index card and unless the bag was clear we would have to check it. Well now we know why there was a line and why it was so long lol.

Sadly we made our way to that long line and boyyy was I pissed. I was hoping we didn’t miss Bey but we damn sure were missing the preshow and I wanted to see Chloe x Halle and DJ Khaled. After waiting for what seems like forever we made it to the front then found out a locker cost $15, these people were just racking up the coins smh but there was 3 of us so we just split the price and walked, very quickly, back to the metal detectors and inside. Because of all of this I didn’t even think about stopping to buy some merch and we ran straight to our seats lol. After finding them we decided to get something to eat and while we were in the line the show started. Luckily we got our food and ran back to our seats, we only missed some of the opening but I stood up, ate my food and sang alone at the same time lol.

The show was amazing I knew every last word and just the amount of work they put into the production and making sure the fans enjoy themselves was everything! Then we had to worry about the let out lol. We were one of the first people back to the lockers and we got our stuff then decided to walk a bit before calling the uber. It was madness! We walked up along with the rest of the concert goers, they cut off a bunch of the streets but our uber driver was so patient and waited for us further down the road after we decided to walk up and meet him. When we got in the car he joked that if he knew he was picking up at the stadium he wouldn’t have accepted the ride lol. He got us safely back to the hotel and we got ready for bed since we had an early start the next day.

Saturday we planned to link up with our friend and her husband who were also in town for Beyonce and were attending that night. They were staying in the same hotel so after getting ready we headed down for some breakfast to wait for them so we could all go to the National Building Museum for the Fun House exhibit. I remember seeing this exhibit on insta last year and I was excited to go and get some pics. We had an hour to enjoy the Fun House then we headed back to our hotel for a little rooftop chill session.

The rooftop was beautiful but it was so damn hot lol. I got my fave drink, and amaretto sour and we sat and talked a bit before heading back to our rooms. After being held up in the elevators because the Prime Minister of Ethiopia was staying there we finally made it back to our room for a little midday nap. After laying around a bit we ordered room service and the spread was amazing. I ordered a BLT and some French fries and they even made that look so fancy lol. We ended up staying in the rest of the night since we had to wake up early to head back home the next morning. After checking out and heading back home I was tired but it was a fun, chill weekend that I got to enjoy with my friends and see Beyonceee! View more pics from my weekend below and if any of you guys went to the On the Run II concert yet let me know how your experience was!
