The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze

The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze

Heyyyy Slayers!!

I’m backkk! I kind of took a little break during quarantine. There weren’t any pop ups to attend and I’ve been working from home which is new for me. Because of this, I’ve been trying to figure out how this new normal would work for me and now I’m ready to share on my blog again!

I went out this weekend with my mom to the The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze otherwise known as the Pumpkin Blaze, which is an annual event put on by Historic Hudson Valley. This is a great outing to get into the spirit for Halloween. The main location of this event is usually in Hudson Valley and this year’s second location is in Old Bethpage Long Island. I scored tickets for the first time slot at 6:30PM. It is early into October, so when I started walking the path it was still a bit bright outside and gradually got darker. I’m happy that I went early because if you are not sure of the area you can kind of get turned around when driving. We ended up leaving in the dark and it was like winter dark with hardly any lights, so be aware of that if driving.

The exhibit was really cool and took about 45 minutes to experience. Just knowing that the thousands of pumpkins featured were hand carved by artists made it even more interesting to take in. Almost all of the installations had signs accompanying them to describe the art. There were such carvings as a lighthouse, the witch hunt in the Hamptons, the Haunted Hewlett House, Amityville Horror and more! It was mostly just following the path and walking by these things, but as the sky got darker the Jack O’Lanterns burned brighter which made the installations look magical.

This was a great one time event and definitely a good outing for families. Although I had a good time, I wouldn’t necessarily do it again just because I feel like even with new installations you pretty much get the idea. However, this may change in the future when I have children because I would want them to experience the Blaze. Tickets were $48 before tax, which is a bit hefty in price and higher than previous years. I read on Instagram that this price increase is because with COVID-19 (Rona), the non profit wasn’t able to have many of their usual events this year, but this is the one event that always brings in money for them. To be able to support this non profit I didn’t mind spending money because I know it is going towards a good cause.

If you are interested in attending the event view more information on the Historic Hudson Valley website. The Long Island location is open until November 1st and the Hudson Valley location is open until November 21st. Also, find my outfit deets below along with some similar items.
