Kings Hawaiian Breakfast Bungalow

Kings Hawaiian Breakfast Bungalow

Hey Slayersss!!

So, we are officially in the third month of 2020 and with a new year comes new pop ups! Last Saturday I was able to go to the Kings Hawaiian Breakfast Bungalow. The event was only from Saturday, February 22nd until Sunday, March 1st. I paid $20 to attend, but I figured it would be worth it since there would be food at the event. I mean, who doesn’t love Kings Hawaiian bread? Their rolls are my fave and a must have for every holiday meal. Also, it wasn’t far-fetched that I had to pay since I’ve paid for pop ups before, but I would just have to wait it out and see if it was worth it. I convinced two of my friends to attend with me and they are always down for a pop up, so I knew that I would have fun regardless.

The Breakfast Bungalow was literally across the street from the train station which was so convenient. Outside was a giant replica of a Kings Hawaiian roll package. I checked in and received my Kings Hawaiian coin before putting hitting coat check. The inside was not huge, but I remained optimistic. I noticed my friend sitting at the table and we decided to get started with pictures since our other friend was close by. We started with the hammock which I immediately thought would make for a good boomerang. There was even a person working the event who offered to take group pics sitting on the hammock once my second friend arrived. He was super nice throughout the event and I was so grateful for the hospitality. I’ve mentioned this before, but I wish more events had dedicated staff to take pics of those people who go to pop ups alone.

Next, there was a surfboard setup in the back of the room which wasn’t all that impressive and seemed like a last-minute thought. We headed upstairs to the main Instagrammable section that was appearing all over social media. We headed upstairs, the room wasn’t a big setup and we were immediately hit with heat. I know this pop up was supposed to be based on Hawaii but whewwww we didn’t need to literally feel the humidity lol. It was booming up there and I had on a sweater and a button up since it was freezing outside. I’m so happy I knew what poses I wanted to do so that I wouldn’t have to stay up there any longer than necessary. I got my pics first the took some of my friends and we high tailed it downstairs.

There was also a ball pit included, but I was not in the ball pit mood and I’ve done enough of those anyway, so we skipped it. I think we can totally nix these from pop ups now and replace it with another installation lol. We headed over to the food section of the room and got on line. There was someone waiting for us when we walked up, and he explained the four menu options available. After we each picked a menu for the meal that we wanted, we handed in our Kings Hawaiian coin and moved to the counter based on our meal choice. We each got a different meal so that we could each try. I got the Avocado Toast; my friends got the Sammie and the French Toast. There was one last choice available, the Chicken Fried Steak which we didn’t get to try. Once you made it to your counter you had the choice between the executive chef’s recipe or creating your own. We each decided to create our own, but I only remember what I put on my avocado toast. I added arugula, tomato, onions and basil oil. There were also drinks available including orange juice, water, coffee and tea. I took some water and the person who helped us with the hammock earlier, helped us find a table.

Each meal came with a different type of bread from the Kings Hawaiian brand. This was awesome to me because I’ve only ever had their rolls. I was excited to dig in and try my avocado toast. It was so good, and I was happy that we saved the eating portion of the pop up for last. I was surprised because it was on a regular slice of toasted Kings Hawaiian bread which we know to be sweet. However, it was not overwhelming at all. I tasted some of the French toast and it was sweet but really good. I didn’t try the Sammie, but it came on four of the rolls that I know and love, so I know that it was good.

After eating, we were done with everything and headed out. I will say that our appointment time was at 1 PM, and I got back home at 2:30, that should let you know that it wasn’t a huge experience. But with that I will say that the people working were extremely nice and wanted to make sure that we were enjoying ourselves which made the pop up that much better. I don’t think it was worth $20 and think that it should’ve been free, but you have to attend to figure that out, so I don’t regret it at all. You can view some video action of the event below but comment below to let me know your thoughts about Kings Hawaiian bread and if you love it just as much as me. Don’t forget to subscribe and share, til next time Slayersss!!
