Hi.

NYC Restaurant Week - Del Frisco’s Grille

NYC Restaurant Week - Del Frisco’s Grille

I haven’t participated in NYC Restaurant Week in a while, but I’m back baby! My first stop was Del Frisco’s Grille at 250 Vesey Street. Del Frisco’s Grille is only participating for the first three weeks of the program, so the last day to enjoy is February 5th. Their lunch menu will cost you $45 for two courses while their dinner is $60 for three courses.

I had a reservation for 6 PM, but I got there a little after 5:30 PM and was seated right away by the hostess. The hostess was so welcoming and sat me on the 2nd level in a booth by the window. She also had no problem mentioning to me that it was restaurant week and handed me a menu. Sometimes restaurants won’t mention the deal unless you ask so the fact that she wanted to make me aware was welcomed.

My waiter took my food and drink order right away. I got the cheesesteak eggrolls for my appetizer, the 8 oz filet mignon for my entree and added the truffle butter for $6 more as an enhancement, and closed out with the flourless chocolate torte for dessert.

When my eggrolls came out I was so excited. I’d been looking at pictures of this dish on Yelp for days leading up to my resy (yess I’m a bit greedy or likrish as my Caribbean people like to say lol). I was expecting a smaller portion since I usually feel like restaurant week portions are a bit smaller, but they actually gave me 4 eggrolls. I smothered the first roll in the glaze and took a bite, I was in heaven and very satisfied. I do have to point out that the cheesesteak filling was a bit salty, but still good nonetheless. Also I’d like to point out that although greedy sometimes my eyes are bigger than my stomach. I usually end up always taking some food to go and I was already almost full from just this appetizer, but I made it through.

The waiter took my empty plate and came back a few minutes later with my steak and truffle butter. I do wish that they allowed you to choose a side or two to go with the meal, but it’s okay. I cut into my medium well cooked steak then layered some truffle butter on the piece and took my first bite. Not the most flavorful steak, but I’m thankful I got the truffle butter to help out. There was also salt and pepper on my table for seasoning. The steak itself was tender and juicy so that's a win. I cleaned this plate as well before getting ready for dessert.

Last up, my flourless chocolate torte which was recommended by my waiter. I was given a slice of this cake topped with whipped crème and a raspberry. After digging in I realized there were caramel crunch bits on the bottom. I loved it, but at this point there was not a ton of space left in my stomach lol. I ate about half of the cake before asking for the check.

My ratings below:

  • 3 course meal: 7.5/10

  • Service: 10/10

  • Ambiance: 8.5/10
